Commercial Refrigerator Not Cooling Properly
A cabinet that is warm all day and a cabinet that recovers slowly after a delivery are not the same problem. Describing which one you have is the most useful thing you can do before a visit.
What the symptom actually tells you
Commercial refrigeration holds temperature by moving cold air over product, managing evaporator frost according to the defrost system the specific controller uses, and rejecting heat at the condenser. Each can degrade separately, and a short description of when and how the temperature moves distinguishes them far better than a single reading.
It is also worth separating the alarm from the fault. A high-temperature alarm means a measured value crossed a configured limit — which can follow a busy loading period, a door left open, a defrost that did not terminate as expected, a sensor issue, or a genuine refrigeration problem. A power or door alert is a different message again. Photographing the exact text costs nothing and saves guesswork.
Configuration matters before any procedure is named. Cabinets differ in controller, refrigerant and defrost arrangement, and manufacturer documentation for one configuration does not describe another. The model and serial number from the data plate come first, along with the controller type if it is visible.
Diagnosis is a paid on-site visit with instruments and manufacturer service data, followed by a written estimate before any repair is carried out.
Which temperature pattern matches yours
These are categories to narrow the question before a visit, not a remote diagnosis. Confirmation requires on-site measurement.

What you can safely observe yourself
These are normal operator observations using the cabinet's own display and your existing records.
- Photograph the exact display or alarm text, with the time it appeared
- Note when the events happen: after deliveries, during service, or overnight
- Note loading changes — quantity, packaging, stacking — and whether accessible vents or air paths are blocked
- Check the doors close and seal fully, and whether any door was propped or left ajar
- Record any independent temperature log you keep, and the date of the last service or cleaning
- Do not open panels or access the refrigeration circuit; refrigerant work is licensed work
- Do not force a manual or repeated defrost to make the display look better
- Do not decide suspect product is acceptable from the cabinet display alone — follow your own food and storage contingency plan
What requires a technician on site
- Air temperature and airflow measured through the cabinet, not read from the display alone
- Evaporator, condenser and defrost behaviour observed against the documentation for the specific model
- Controller configuration, sensors and stored alarm history read on the matching controller
- Door, gasket and closure condition assessed under normal operating conditions
- Refrigeration circuit behaviour assessed within KONGRA's legal service scope
- Controller families and refrigerant charges differ; a procedure documented for one configuration is not applied to another
- Refrigerant handling and sealed-system work is performed only within KONGRA's legal license scope, or coordinated with properly licensed independent contractors
- An alarm record is evidence of a limit being crossed, not proof of a failed component
- KONGRA does not make food-safety determinations and issues no holding time or temperature guidance

The cabinet is showing a high-temperature alarm. Does that mean the compressor has failed?+
No. An alarm reports that a measured value crossed a configured limit. Airflow restriction, a door left ajar, a defrost that did not terminate correctly, a sensor problem or a control setting can all produce the same alarm, and so can a refrigeration fault. The cause is confirmed on site on the matching model, not from the alarm text.
Should we keep the product if the display looks acceptable again?+
Follow your own food and storage contingency plan and your operator's records — a cabinet display alone is not a basis for deciding that suspect product is fine. KONGRA does not issue food-safety determinations, and this page gives no time or temperature rule for holding product.

The model and serial number, the controller type if you know it, the exact display or alarm text photographed, the times the events happened, and any independent temperature log you already keep. Recent deliveries, door use and the last service date help as well.
