Commercial Refrigerated Cabinet Repair in San Jose & Bay Area
Diagnostics and repair for reach-in, upright, undercounter and display refrigerated cabinets — temperature instability, defrost behavior, airflow, doors and controls.
How KONGRA approaches the diagnostic
Refrigerated cabinets fail gradually. Product quality slips before the display shows a fault, so the diagnostic measures actual cabinet and product temperatures through a full cycle instead of trusting the panel reading.
Airflow is the most common culprit: blocked evaporator, failing fan, iced coil, overloaded shelving or a condenser choked with dust. Each is checked against measured air temperature and split.
Defrost behavior — timing, termination, drain and heater condition — explains most recurring ice and puddle complaints, and is checked before any sealed-system conclusion.
Doors, gaskets, hinges, closers and heaters matter more on a cabinet opened hundreds of times a day than on any other refrigeration. Sensors, controllers and electrical supply round out the inspection.
A controller change is not, by itself, a completed repair. Adjusting a setpoint or clearing an alarm can make a panel look correct while the airflow, defrost or door condition behind the reading is unchanged, so a corrected display is treated as a starting point and the cabinet is re-measured before anything is called resolved. If your cabinet is warm now and you are deciding what to record before booking, the separate not-cooling guide sets out which observations are worth capturing first.
Where evidence points to the sealed system, compressor condition and system performance are evaluated and the work is performed within KONGRA's legal scope or coordinated with licensed independent contractors.

Frequently asked questions
What counts as a refrigerated cabinet?+
Reach-in and upright refrigerators and freezers, undercounter cabinets, display and merchandiser cabinets, and prep-table bases used in commercial kitchens and retail.
My cabinet holds temperature at night but not during service — why?+
That pattern usually points to door usage, gasket sealing, defrost timing or airflow blockage rather than a failed compressor. Load and airflow behavior are measured during real operating conditions.
Do you handle sealed-system refrigerant work?+
Sealed-system and refrigerant work is performed only within KONGRA's legal scope, or coordinated with properly licensed independent contractors.
Can you tell me whether to repair or replace?+
After inspection, yes — we give measured findings, repair cost and the practical remaining life so you can decide. We do not state a diagnosis before inspection.
