Model-specific diagnostic guide
MIWE condo CO 3.1408: Top Deck Not Producing Steam
When only the top deck of a multi-deck MIWE condo loses steam, replacing a general oven part is premature. The reported CO 3.1408 symptom starts with a comparison between decks and identification of the installed controller.

- Equipment
- MIWE condo CO 3.1408 electric deck oven.
- Reported symptom
- Top deck does not produce steam.
- Documentation
- MIWE FP manual available; installed controller and corresponding wiring still require confirmation.
- Status
- Diagnostic planning from a service inquiry. No failed component or completed repair established.
Compare the decks before choosing parts
The service inquiry identified a single affected deck rather than a complete oven power failure. Record whether that deck reaches its baking setpoint, whether the steam command appears, and whether the other decks produce steam during a comparable program.
The distinction helps define the visit. A shared water problem, a deck-specific water path and a disabled steam function are different hypotheses. The report alone does not establish which applies. Exact controller and deck information should accompany the model number.
What the FP operating manual contributes
MIWE's FP manual describes steam-device enablement, programmed steam quantity, water connections and service-level faults. Its operating settings should be checked only when an FP-equipped unit is confirmed. Instructions from an FP manual should not be treated as button sequences for TC or TC go! controls.
For the matching configuration, a technician distinguishes a command/settings problem from a supply restriction, valve or steam-device issue. Heat, sensing and control output are then checked against the correct wiring and documentation. Scale or a failed valve remains a possibility, not a diagnosis based on the symptom.
A repair follows the failed function
The corrective action depends on what the inspection proves. A disabled function needs the correct operating configuration; a restricted water path needs appropriate service; a failed electrical component needs identification and a compatible replacement. Parts selection requires the oven's individual configuration, not just the name condo.
After correction, the useful acceptance check is a controlled steam request on the affected deck, followed by normal program operation and inspection for leakage. Compare the result with the initial complaint. This article explains that diagnostic path; it is not a record of an already completed MIWE repair.
Information to send before scheduling
Provide photographs of the complete oven, each relevant rating plate and the controller screen. Include when the symptom started, any recent water/filter changes and whether an error appears. A short video of an ordinary external steam request can help if it can be recorded safely.
Leave hot steam plumbing and electrical cabinets closed. The service plan should allow the oven to cool and account for the bakery's production schedule.
