CT, MRI, Mammography and Dental CBCT: Documented Alerts to Record
Imaging equipment may interrupt operation with a warning, test failure or changed image quality. These are not interchangeable events. A gantry-cooling concern, MR coil-selection message, mammography detector QC deviation and dental CBCT positioning error involve different safety and verification requirements. This reference explains what the public manufacturer literature describes, not how to perform clinical imaging repairs.
Clinical scope: This is educational content for technical readers and facility decision-makers. KONGRA does not currently market service or calibration of CT, MRI, clinical X-ray, mammography or dental CBCT systems. Clinical staff must follow the exact device IFU, site radiation/MR safety program, medical physicist or designated professional and qualified OEM/clinical engineering service. Do not use this page as a substitute for the device's operating instructions or release-to-patient-use process.
CT: three platforms, three documentation contexts
Siemens SOMATOM go.Top. Siemens Healthineers' public training aid explains that contamination of gantry air filters can contribute to overheating. That documents a possible environmental/cooling contributor, not the cause of any specific scanner shutdown. A useful facility incident record describes the alert, room conditions, current maintenance status and whether operation was interrupted, without guessing that the X-ray tube failed.
GE Revolution CT. The operator literature separates X-ray tube warm-up and thermal management from image-quality checks and other scanner states. A reported tube warm-up prompt, repeated acquisition cancellation or unexpected image artifact should be logged by its exact wording, time and system software version. These observations belong with authorized CT service and facility quality procedures.
Philips Incisive CT. The public Instructions for Use distinguish short tube conditioning and air calibration workflows. A condition or calibration message needs to be assessed in context: whether the device was recently started, whether a check was completed, and whether image quality changed. An error is not a diagnosis of a tube or detector. Clinical operators must follow the current Philips IFU and never perform unqualified irradiation, safety or service actions.
MRI: system messages versus image artifacts
Siemens MAGNETOM Vida. Siemens Academy's Numaris X system-message guidance names hardware warning contexts such as cooling, coil selection and resonance frequency. Capture the actual message history and the affected workflow. A coil-selection message is not proof that a coil is damaged, while a resonance-related notice should not be interpreted as a repair procedure.
GE SIGNA and Philips Ingenia. Relevant manufacturer literature describes RF/coil-related image quality and acquisition behavior. Patient motion, sequence selection, acquisition settings and hardware issues can produce superficially similar artifacts; a comparison of two brands' generic symptoms does not establish the same defect or code. Record the exact model, software revision and artifacts only through facility-approved privacy-safe channels. Only qualified MR technicians may access controlled zones or perform MR-specific service.
Mammography: QC failures are governed clinical events
Hologic Selenia Dimensions manufacturer QC documents cover phantom/image artifacts, acquisition/review workstations, compression and other image-quality tests. Siemens MAMMOMAT Revelation documentation covers artifact and SNR/CNR checks, detector calibration and compression controls. A failed QC test is not a public DIY repair instruction. Facilities must apply their MQSA and medical-physicist requirements, determine whether use should be suspended, and document corrective action through appropriately qualified service.
Dental X-ray / CBCT: inspection and coded categories
Carestream CS 9600 manufacturer guidance calls for an annual inspection by a suitably approved/authorized technician, including motorized components and image quality. If safe functioning is uncertain, the manufacturer warns against operating the unit.
Dentsply Sirona Orthophos SL 3D Instructions for Use identify E4 with mechanical blocking, E5 with an exposure/preparation function not ready, E6 with self-check and E7 as a serious system error. These are category descriptions: they do not identify a specific board, motor, generator or replacement part. Staff should preserve the full display message and arrange the appropriate clinical/vendor service response, particularly for a serious fault.
A useful handoff log
For technical support, retain: exact device model and software/configuration, error wording, timestamp, current operational state, relevant recent manufacturer-approved maintenance/QC results, environmental conditions and a description of the change in image quality. Use private approved channels for screenshots and exam records; no patient-identifiable images or records belong in a public inquiry. The responsible clinical engineering team and medical physicist determine necessary equipment evaluation and return-to-use testing.
